Topic: Fireface ucx or adi2

Hello
I'd like to upgrade quality in my little home studio
I use UA610 solo preamp
Saffire pro 14 as interface
Imac
Focal solo6 be as monitors
beyerdynamic  dt770 pro headphones
Logic sequencer

My intent is step up ad/da conversion quality and two are ways i see
Change my Pro14 interface with one Rme ucx,uc or ufx
Add one Adi2 between preamp ua610 solo and Pro14 interface by spdif in (44.1 / 96 khz)

What is better choice in your opinion
I think a/d d/a quality is better in adi2 compared with ucx,uc and ufx converters
but i don't know if saffire 96 khz spdif in could be apt to make the most of Adi2 capability.
Also could be a better option to sacrifice a little a/d definition and get more I/O possibilities.
Fascinating dsp and effects too

Let me know your point of view
Thanks Ciao

UFX all the way!! :-)

You not only get a converter upgrade, you also get RME drivers and software.

The drivers and stability alone are worth it in mu opinion.

Thank you Isaac
And there are many qualitative differences between ufx and ucx ?
I 'don't need a lot of I/O options, 18 are more than enough

They use different converter chips I believe. As the UCX is newer it should have better specs. Can't tell you 100%. Check the RME website for that.

I think that everything the UCX brings is more than worth choosing it over the ADI-2. The only reason I think for you to get the UFX would be DUrec and the extra inputs. Or if you wanted to use 96K over ADAT.

If I was upgrading my multifaces, the UCX would be my first stop!!!

Re: Fireface ucx or adi2

Ok Isaac Thanks
In rme website it shows only different channels and possibilities between interfaces, not type and hardware quality
Anyway i think to get one ucx
Converters and Pre i presume they're similar in ucx and ufx
Real gap i believe is in number of channels, but ucx 18 I/O are a sufficient quantity for me

I think you need to download the manuals to get the specs sorry!

Be sure you understand with the UCX you only get 10 input channels unless you already have an analog-to-adat converter. If you don't already have (or are willing to purchase) an additional converter the ADAT inputs are useless.
