Topic: Fireface 800 digital output problem

Hi All:

I have a fireface 800 and a presonus central station for monitoring.

Currently I have stereo output running from Line Out 1 and 2 to the line In 1 and 2 of the central station. Works great.

Now, since central station has both toslink and spdif digital ins I wanted to find out if things would sound different using digital outs of the fireface 800.

I have a toslink cable at hand so i connected toslink to ADAT 1 out and connected it to toslink in on the presonus but I get nothing but some noise coming over.

Can someone help how to actually connect my fireface 800 via toslink or if that does not work via spdif with the presonus central station which has either toslink or spdif inputs ? Is there are difference in quality between toslink and spdif ?

I feel like I am missing the obvious.

Much appreciated your help.

Thanks,
Mozzak

Re: Fireface 800 digital output problem

You would need to use the FF's second ADAT out and switch to to SPDIF format in the FF settings dialog.

The Presonus apparently does not understand ADAT format.

Re: Fireface 800 digital output problem

Hi Daniel,

danke Dir.

I will give that a try. Does it make a difference to use toslink over spdif ? Would I gain quality in changing or it does not make a difference ?

thanks,
