Topic: DURec with UFX and Pro Tools 10

Hello,

I just bought myself a Fireface UFX and I'm trying to sort out the best way to record my bass guitar and keyboard lines into Pro Tools. My top priority is having the best quality sound, so the lowest latency is what I'm looking for. I've heard that recording directly into the usb port on the UFX gives the most accurate sound from your inputs and I've also heard that Loopback technique gives zero latency.. Is it possible to record into the UFX usb port via Pro Tools? .. which would be the best technique?

thanks for your help

Re: DURec with UFX and Pro Tools 10

There is no correlation between "best quality sound" and low latency as such.
If you are simply recording audio signals straight into the PC, without using PT to process effects or virtual instruments or the like, what is the requirement for "low latency" here? USB recoding is in no way superior in terms of sound quality to recoring straight into PT, and it is totally independent.

There is a loopback feature (manual chapter on "Recording a subgroup"), but I am unsure what "give zero latency" would mean to you in this context.
