Topic: Setting up external gear with UFX

I'd like to have my hardware compressors & mic pres connected "normaled" through my patchbay so I can use them as external insert effects with Cubase, and leave this set up all the time. However, sometimes I'd like to track through a mic pre and compressor into Cubase.

Can anyone suggest the easiest setup for this? Currently have all my analog ins/outs connected to my patchbay and am patching every time. Is there a way where I can leave the gear set up as inserts (when mixing) and only patch when I need to track?

Also, would it help to get an Adat to Analog converter box so I could use another 8 analog inputs for this purpose? Sorry for my ignorance!

Re: Setting up external gear with UFX

the best way to do that is to create different setups (snapshots) in the totalmix windows.
create different routings for each snapshot, so your signal (original or externally processed) always comes back to your hardware input.  This can be done using the loopback Mode, take a look at the manual for this one wink

Adding an adat converter will give you more inputs, but you still have to route them.

Thank you. I will look into this and probably get back to you with a LOT of questions!
