Topic: ADAT1 & ADAT2 ports not outputting PC audio (FIREFACE UFX) Screenshots

Equipment:
Interface: Fireface UFX
External Audio: Bose AV-321II GSX

I currently do not have any serious monitors to mix and master but I do have this Bose 321 system I would like to reference my mixes with.  Below you can find screen shots of what my TotalMix looks like and how I have these two units plugged in.  For some unknown reason, I cannot get the audio from my PC to my Bose system to play.  Forgive me if I'm missing information, I will be willing to provide anyone here with any additional information that's needed to troubleshoot this.  Many thank yous in advanced.

What I can see is that the outputs are 9/&0. These are analogs, and your Bose System is linked to your RME with optical S/PDIF.

In your RME's settings, set ADAT out to S/PDIF, in TotalMix, set according outputs to monitoring.

I think you should read the RME's manual ;-)

Your setting should look like this :

TotalMix :

My apologies, I didn't notice I had reverted my settings back prior to taking a screen shot.  I updated my firmware and updated the driver and I'm seeing the same behavior after switching the settings found in the screen shot below.

Initially the Bose system was not displaying the "PCM: 2.0" message in its display until I switched the optical cable from the ADAT1 port into the ADAT2 port in the back of my UFX.  I see the same "PCM: 2.0" message when I plug-in my PlayStation 2 that I used for testing in order to determine whether or not the Bose system optical interface was working.  I was able to hear audio without incident from my PlayStation 2.  That same "PCM: 2.0" message disappears from the Bose display when the UFX or the PlayStation 2 is off respectively.

I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Re: ADAT1 & ADAT2 ports not outputting PC audio (FIREFACE UFX) Screenshots

You need signal on the AES outputs, not on ADAT. Set AES to main out or set it as system default audio.
PCM 2.0 indicates the system is receiving a correct signal (PCM for uncompressed, i.e. not DTS or so, and 2.0 for stereo). Only the second optical output on the UFX will provide an SPDIF signal, and the output is correctly set to AES/SPDIF format.
Now you only need to look at choosing the right playback channels.

I found the solution guys.  The channel windows users should be selecting when using the ADAT2 out port is the "AES" channel.  After playing with my DAW and just cycling through the different outputs I was able to find the right one.  I want to thank you guys for all of the support.

Whoa, looks like I should have refreshed my page before I kept playing with it.  Many thanks again!  I appreciate all the prompt responses.
