Topic: Big sync problems with FF 400 and POD HD Pro

Hello,

I just bought a second S/PDIF cable to plug them In and Out with my Fireface for reamping.

So of course I plug the S/PDIF cables as follow :   POD Out>FF In   and   POD In>FF Out

But here's the sound I get with different settings, some with POD as Slave (Sound was better) and then as Master (It's worse) but now when I switch back to Slave that's the same noise all along... :

I don't know what to do anymore, it's driving me crazy since 2 hours...

Any suggestion ? Don't know if the problem is from the Fireface or POD... I tried a lot of stuff, different settings, reboots etc... But it seems it's getting worse so I prefer to stop touching anything ! I'm afraid to damage something.
I think the only problem is to go to Fireface Out to POD In, it works in the other way !

In the Fireface Settings I choose :

Thank you very much !

EDIT : Now I did a few global settings reset, I tried a few more things, it worked during maybe 5 minutes with S/PDIF then goes WIIIIUUUUUUU like a larsen/feedback effect...

EDIT 2 : Yeah larsen effect was because of a bad routing in RME's TotalMix. Now it still works perfect or a few minutes and then it crackles as HELL !!! (As above but without Larsen) No more sound, only BZZ KRRR BZZ KRR BZZ with the all the Fireface LEDs lighting like a Chistmas tree until I turn it off... This is pretty impressive !

Here is a sample I tried to record with a Beta 58A but I was in a hurry (I'm afraid that harms the FF) that's not very representative, imagine a loud volume and more intense sounds : http://soundcloud.com/julianleemartin/fireface-noises (I did a few editing to delete the violent peaks but be careful)

EDIT 3 : I keep on trying, I just reboot the POD (It was off since a few hours), it looks more stable but still the crackles... : http://soundcloud.com/julianleemartin/m … ut-lots-of

But weird thing, I wonder why sometimes the TotalMix is "full" and sometimes the playback section is half empty like this :

(Ok, I didn't touch anything and it's back to normal, do you believe in curses ?? lol Anyway, this TotalMix "problem" is not important)

Re: Big sync problems with FF 400 and POD HD Pro

Ok, I just found that the crackles disappear when I turn to 96kHz... (There's still a few noises at 88kHz)

I'm very relieved !!!

But I'm afraid it will need more resources to record and mix at 96kHz... Because it will, right ?

And why I need to set the thing at 96kHz and there's noises at 44.1 ?

Thanks smile
