Topic: Fireface 800 problems

MacG5-8gb'sRam-32 buffersize-LogicExpress-Connected Via Firewire 800.

First problem. Can't record in 192khz. And yes logic is synced to the same sample rate. As soon as I hit record it shows that
it can't process the task. My brother is running a macbook with LESS RAM than mine, and recording at 192khz! I'm just not sure what to do.

The second issue is that when I arm the track I can hear distortion through my headphones. They are plugged into RME's headphone output. When the track is not armed the playback sounds perfect. That doesn't seem to make any sense.
Anyway's, if you can, Please Help! Thanks!

32 what - samples? Won't work. Use 256 at least.

Re: Fireface 800 problems

So that's first thing I need to do. Change buffer size. You said 256 is the minimum setting. What do you think would be the overall best buffer size? If I understand correctly the higher you go in buffer size, the more latency you have. Is that correct?

Re: Fireface 800 problems

Yes - therefore, there is no "best" setting. It's a balance between performance and stability. If 128 won't work, the computer may be too slow for the task at hand.
