I'd appreciate any 'best practice' advice for syncing my Multi and Digi.

Everything seems to be working ... except for an ADAT in to the Digi thats green light flashes between Sync and Lock. I don't really fully understand the distinction between sync and lock, partly because the sound seems unaffected.

The Digi is set to internal clock. The first two pair of 8 Channel ADAT Ins and Outs (1 & 2), 16 channels, comes from an Allen & Heath ZED R16 desk. Those ADAT channels read 'Sync.' The ZED R16 has no Word Clock connectors.

The other ADAT 8 channel Ins and Outs (3) come from  a Mackie Onyx 800R. This is the connection that flashes between sync and lock ... with most of the time with the green light/ sync on. The unit only has ADAT out. There is a Word Clock in connector.

The multi is synced to Word Clock out from the Multi and it shows sync with solid green light. I'm not using the ADAT channels at present.

I did have the Mackie connected here before, but I moved it to the Digi to better use Total Mix with all 24 channels on the Digi.

What I don't understand is whether I could also use SPDIF as a sync source between the Mulit and Digi. Will this sync the units without the Word Clock connection?

If I could, I could use the  Digi Word Clock out to sync the Mackie 800R.

Finally, in the Hammerfall settings, I don't understand the SPDIF Out options. Do you set the unit with the internal clock source to ADAT1 to use SPDIF as a sync source? What is the purpose of the other settings?
