Topic: ufx will only play 44.1k

Hello,
I just built a rig with 2x Xeon cpus on an EVGA SR-X board.

My ufx is hooked up via a SIIG 2 port TI firewire PCIe card.

Everything runs fine when the sample rate is 44.1k, but when I switch to 48k and 96k there
is no sound and the fireface settings window displays many errors.

The USB connection works fine at every sampling rate.

Is this a known problem?  Is there a fix?

No sound where? Even in the software playback of the mixer? Also, how do you switch? By just changing the sample rate setting or by actually playing 96k material? What kind of software, ASIO or WDM based?

No sound with either WDM or ASIO.

I tried switching the sample rate in both the settings of the fireface settings
window, also within Cubase, and stand alone apps VSTi's, and no sound.

Will play 44.1k perfectly fine, but no luck with 48k or 96k.

The weird thing is the USB works perfectly at all rates.

I also tried two different TI based PCIe cards - a Syba and a SIIG.

Tried all three drivers available - TI, the regular and legacy, and
still no luck.

I'm baffled - maybe USB is my only option...

The FW port of the UFX might be defective. Can you try a different computer just for testing?

OK,

I tried a different computer, a Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 w/an AMD Phenom II,
and the FW works fine at every sample rate.  So I guess that rules out the FW port on the ufx being defective.

So could there be an incompatibility with  either the Intel c606 chipset or the EVGA Classified SR-X?
Could the problem possibly be with the CPU's? I'm running dual Xeon 2687w's.
Has this occurred before? I don't know what else it could be...

As I said 44.1 works great, just no go with any other sample rate.
