Topic: question rreguarding the (adat) optical input

Im interested in using my babyface for  windows pc playback.
I'm currently using the babyfaces 2 D/a converters via usb, for playback of 4 seperate channels.
I don't have an optical cable to try,, but if I switch to using the optical input, will it be able to carry the 4 channels, or will It be restricted to 2 channel stereo?
If it will, will  I also need an audio card that supports ADAT ?

Thanks for any info

Justin
