Topic: Old stuff and Windows 8, and asking suggestion for modern motherboards
Hi guys!
As this is a topic about older cards, I thought I'd ask some questions about -hmm- older cards!
I have a couple of them:
- a Digi96/8, one of the "early release batch" (I heard sometime later there was a small mod in a further version; as guarantees are long gone on this old cards, could I apply this mod myself, I wonder? Oops, another question IN a question ;-)),
- a Digi96/8 PAD that I use to run with an AEB 8-I card;
First question: is there a possibility to combine the two Digi/8s and what would be a good combination then?
I have F.I. a Kurzweil K2500 with stereo digital ins and outs.
Secondly, as there is at this moment an interesting offer to upgrade Win XP or 7 to Windows 8 for a modest price: could you confirm that these cards with their latest drivers will work fully in a computer with a Windows 8, as long as it's 32-bit, please?
Thirdly, as I want to assemble a new computer for making music, could you (or any of the other readers here) recommend one or two modern motherboards that still accept those cards PC-I-wise (I guess I need at least 3 slots, as the AEB 8-I also needs one for the connectors to the outside world)?
Thank you in advance for your replies,
Have a great musical 2013 all,
UZero
