Topic: UCX installation issue - OSX 10.8.2

Ok rme crew, so im new to OSX,, but not to RME or pc`s. Very happy Fireface 800 user and now making the transition over to mac -

I am trying to install my UCX on my new MBPr - running ML 10.8.2 - Rme usb driver 1.78

I am a novice on OSX, but im picking it up...

I installed the 1.78 driver and all seemed to go well,, with `Fireface usb settings` and `Totalmix` Icon installed in applications folder.

Ok, so then i definitely rebooted - plugged in my UCX - red host light out - went to audio in OSX and selected fireface on input and output (but there was no main selection button for the UCX, only option to select it was input and output windows themselves)

Checked installations on OSX , and it has it listed  - Fireface usb driver - 3rd party

Then checked USB port in - system info - this is what was listed

So it seems i could see the UCX

Ok,, then i tried to fire up total mix and nothing?? - the red host light on ucx was still off.

Then i checked the  firmware page on the Rme site and realised on the UCX is not current,, i tried to update the firmware on the UCX via the Mac as i thought this maybe the issue but the i got a message
`No fireface driver or device installed.

Q. do i need to get the firmware updated via another pc before the UCX will be seen/work with OSX 10.8.2?

as part of course,, please can someone also give me novice instructions to uninstall all RME Usb and Totalmix drivers and associated files - Please also if possible give direction on finding files, (i see people make reference to osx - as in windows, some folders are hidden.

Cant wait to get the UCX going,, worked flawlessy on XP wink

please advise if i need to uninstall this separately (if need be)

The UCX is in Class Compliant mode. Turn that off.

Hi Mc,, thanks for getting back.
Sorry for the naivety in this, still getting used to the UCX instead of fireface... my studio has been redundant for a few months and im abit out of sync will all the tech and now has a new OSX system to get my head around...

what should the UCX display so i know its in normal function?

please also - have you a link for reference, to uninstall the ucx on osx? with windows you just went to add/remove programs..

Everything is in the manual, including a list of files installed under OSX.
Mind that in Windows, add/remove only affects the mixer and settings program, not the driver.

Thanks MC and tech support, selecting FA in setup did the trick...Working beautiful now smile

and fair shout, i did have another read over the manual...

Although the manual lists the files to be deleted on an uninstall,, Could someone possibly school me up on finding the files, so i can familiarise myself.
How do you view/find - library, user files etc,,and how do you delete firefaceUSBagent, which is active in activity monitor.
As tech support kindly point out all the files are listed in the manual.

any help or guidance appreciated.

i found the terminal command in this forum to `unhide` files... but when i ran it in terminal (in MLion 10.8.2) nothing seemed to happen?
