Topic: Class Compliant Update Fireface UCX - 18 channel mode

The Fireface UCX, the world's first professional audio interface to be used with an iPad, had been limited to the first 8 channels. Intentionally. We feel that this limitation makes no sense anymore. So many things changed in the last 12 months that we now release a new firmware (DSP 220, CC 4) that enables all 18 inputs and all 18 outputs when used with the iPad.

For a most convenient use it also got two fixed playback routing choices similar to what we added to the Babyface before. Selecting C8 in the display copies playback channels 1/2 to output 7/8 (phones) and to SPDIF/ADAT 1/2. Playback channels 3 to 8 are also copied to the ADAT outputs 3 to 8. This gives maximum operation usefullness with all those standard 2-channel apps.

If you like to use the interface fully independent and with a straight 1:1 playback routing, for example because you want to play back all tracks recorded in Auria separately and mix them outside of the iPad, or you want to use djay and have phones (PFL) and main output (PA) separated, then you want to activate the CA mode (A like All channels).

Re: Class Compliant Update Fireface UCX - 18 channel mode

I very much appreciate your efforts on the CC mode!
Bought a Babyface right after the CC mode anouncement
in order to replace my Muiltiface II under Linux.
With a small bugfix in the ALSA driver everything seems to work.
However I'm a bit disappointed that no mixer features at all are available.
First thought this is ALSAs fault.
At most I'm missing direct monitoring!
Can we expect a mixer for the CC mode in the near future?

Michael
