Topic: FF400 and Windows 7/8 64Bit

Hi there
i have been using RME products for 10 years now, been super satisfied.
my old intel core 2 died, and i bought a new one. corei7

i had to stop using my old multiface since i did not find Motherboard with old PCI slot.

i installed windows 8 64 bit on it, it all seemed fine...
but every time i run playback from cuabse after lets say 20 minutes i get a horrible bleep, and i need to reboot.
ok i did some reading - downgraded the PC to Windows 7 64 bit - changed to legacy driver on firewire.

now the bloody Windows 7 will not recognise the FF400 at all, i get on device manager "unrecognised device"
it will not install the drivers, even when i get the security to minimum.

some questions:
1. is there a way to connect old RME Multiface 1 PCI card to PciE ?
2. is there a method to install FF400 on Windows 7?

the FF400 works fine on my old Macbook pro...so problem cant be with the interface.

please advice since i getting really frustrated.

Re: FF400 and Windows 7/8 64Bit

is there a way to make Windows 8 64 work fine without the bleep?

Try that for Windows 8.

I can't imagine why Win7 is not detecting your FF400 even with the legacy driver.  What fw controller are you using?

The two PCs I've used with my FF400 had a VIA chipset and I've had to use the legacy driver on both the VIAs and my Texas Instruments controller.

See if the post where I describe how to use legacy in Win8 works.

Also you can try the FW driver from this site, which seems to help some folk in Win8:

Scroll down to "IEEE-1394"
