Topic: Mac Thunderbolt --> FW 800 --> FW 400??

Hello,

I am about to buy one of the new MacBooks.

I'll probably get one with firewire 800, + a cable to convert 800 to 400 and use with my fireface 400.

I am curious though . . .the tech at the Mac Store told me that I could get the mac with just Thunderbolt, and then get  a converter to go   Thunderbolt --> Firewire 800 and then another converter to go  FireWire 800 --> Firewire 400.  That sounds like something the FF might not like too much.  I didn't think to ask if there was a direct Thunderbolt -->  Firewire 400.

Anyway, if anyone has any experience with these matters, please let me know.

FW 800 -> FW 400 is not a conversion, just a cable with two different plugs. So you are good to go with Thunderbolt -> FW 800 and then plug in the FW800 -> FW 400 cable.
