Topic: RME MADI PCI SSL Alpha SX 88.2/96k Matthias Jeff HELP!

Windows 7 64bit
Sequoia V12.2.1.180
RME WDM V 3.32
Installed Cards:  PCI- Madi & AES 32; PCIe AES 32

System Clock:  SR 88.2 or 96k (would perfer 96k)

Master: MYTEK 8x192 > BNC OUT > Alpha LInk WC IN
                              >RME MADI PCI IN (Terminated)
                              >AES 32 PCI>AES32 PCIe

Set-up:  Mytek AES out> To Alpha IN AES 1-8
Madi I/O: Fiber to RME

Alpha will lock with Sync for various time amounts, then drop out.
I've been able to hold lock for upto ~5 Minutes then drops..
At times, depending on the settings I've tried, it will even go completely DARK.  No LEDs lit whatsoever.

I wish to have the AlphaLink run 1-24 Analog; 25-32 Digital from Mytek.

This works fine running Alpha Link as internal clock, but not using the Mytek as Master.  This is how I want the System to be clocked.  Mytek as Master.

RME Hammer Settings:                     Auto & TMS ( I've tried every combintation) ?  What is correct?
WDM 32
Clock Source: Word
Madi In: Opti
Madi Out: 64/32/16
88.2/96: 96k Frame
WC Out: Unchecked

Madi Input Status shows: 32ch 96k frame 88.2 Optical
Sync Check: Varies from Sync/Sync   Sometimes Madi "Blinks"

Settings Alpha Link
P1: All off Except 5 (I've tried this on and off)  AES channel Status On/Off
P2: Only 4,5,6,7, ON (tried this off as well)  Sample Rate Converters
P3: All On.. (tried this all off as well) this is the stock setting.  Deals with Control Host, and External Clock VIA Madi or Video Sync.

Please help, I've spent countless hours trying to get this right.  I'm assuming this is some ALPHA link Issue, but you guys always seem to be the most informed.

Many thanks!

Re: RME MADI PCI SSL Alpha SX 88.2/96k Matthias Jeff HELP!

I have no experience with the Alpha, but this description is either incomplete or wrong:

> Master: MYTEK 8x192 > BNC OUT > Alpha LInk WC IN
                              >RME MADI PCI IN (Terminated)
                              >AES 32 PCI>AES32 PCIe

Please try again.

The two AES cards are not used in this setup? Would the Alpha work by clocking on AES instead of Word?

Re: RME MADI PCI SSL Alpha SX 88.2/96k Matthias Jeff HELP!

Thanks Matthias,

The system Master Clock is the Mytek 192; it has multiple clock outputs.  It directly feeds (BNC>BNC) The RME Madi Card, RME AES Card, SSL Alpha, and a Console.  The AES cards feed the console.   I left that out to keep it short.

I will try the Clocking the Alpha Via AES or MADI as well, that is the next step.  I think it may be confused somehow in it's switches; as to what is the master clock.    AES, MADI or Word.

The system works fine until you add the AES outputs from the Mytek > the SSL Alpha.  This appears to be the problem.

? RME Auto check box.  Should this be on or off?

In the SyncCheck box, If the Madi Signal Blinks  occasionally is that not normal?  I'm assuming not.

Last ?  From what I understand, Total Mix cannot pass signal from one card to the other.  I.E.  Madi output 1 > AES card.  If not, are there any plans for implementing this?

Thanks for you time..

Re: RME MADI PCI SSL Alpha SX 88.2/96k Matthias Jeff HELP!

After many hours of trying different things. I finally got it to work correctly.

The auto check box is off
The TMS box is also off.

The Sync check box stopped blinking when the program, "Sequoia" started recording.

The Madi Input Status shows 64/48k frame 48khz optical.   But the files are all being recorded at 96k.  I checked this in the Sequoia object manager page.

I'm assuming that the SSL isn't sending the proper flags at 96k, but it does send them correctly at 88.2!  Interesting.
