Topic: Fireface UC - Mic volume

Hi,

I recently bought a Fireface UC and when trying to set up the level for my shure sm58 I am encountering problems. The highest value I seem to be getting on Totalmix is about -45 dB. I have tried adjusting gain/level in the settings dialog, but this does not resolve the problem. Also I have tried to change the input level using the rotary encoder on the unit itself.

Any Suggestions ?

Are you using the mic preamp on the front panel? XLR to XLR cable? Have you increased the preamp gain in TotalMix (or using the knob)?

Terribly sorry, but I did not know where to set the pre-amp gain. But I have found it now, thanks very much for the swift reply.

So I can use the following parameters to set my input level, correct ? :

Rotary Knob
Gain/Level Setting
pre-amp gain


Also, what is the difference is between using the Rotary Knob and increasing the preamp gain in Totalmix ?

Btw, my gain settings are +4dBu for line in/lineout/phones.
