Topic: Pop/Click sound when/after boot or hibernate

Hi,

My monitors make a huge click/pop sound when computer enters or return from hibernation, I'm using RME AIO with XLR cables.

how this issue can be avoided?

any idea?

Thanks!

Re: Pop/Click sound when/after boot or hibernate

My answer would be by using the standard procedure when running a studio.

Turn off the monitors before entering hibernation... and turn on the monitors after waking the computer has returned from hibernation.

This is normal behaviour for most audio equipment... well most Electronics really, but you only hear it with audio equipment big_smile

It is really not so strange when you know what your equipment is basically made up of:

and
http://electronics.stackexchange.com/qu … -handle-it to explain why it also happens when entering hibernation (or simply turning off your computer/mixer/guitar pedal board/whatever - you get the picture).

Off course there are designs made to prevent this from happening, but either you have to license the patents (more expensive) or use other pragmatic approaches - like turning off the monitors smile

I've seen some extension sockets with arrays of sockets that can be timed to turn on and off (in reverse order) timed after eachother...
Those are quite expensive but perhaps worth it for the lazy/forgetful ones wink
