Topic: Record 2 mono inputs (L & R) as 1 mono stereo signal into Cubase

I'm not sure if I'd use total mix or cubase VST connections to do this.

I have 2 mono synths which I'm currently recording as tracks. Rather than having 2 seperate mono inputs and assigning those inputs in Cubase to either 'Mono Input 1' or 'Mono Input 2' I'd like to have one stereo input but that sums both those 2 signals into the centre (not L & R for each). I can only seem to set this up so that one synth records on L and the other on R. Ultimately I'd like to sum the mono tracks into one 'mono-stereo' track, so that I don't have to switch input selection in 'audio input' in Cubase each time I want to make a switch on the fly. It would also be useful for layering 2 synth sounds but into mono signal - basically I'd like the immediacy of layering and/or switching - but with ONLY one track. Is that possible either in totalmix or Cubase? Anyone know? Thanks

The interface I'm using is the AIO
