Topic: ITU-R 468 weghting?
The availability of digitally computed A-weighted rms noise measurements has been one of the great benefits of DIGICheck.
Now with support for ITU loudness measurement standards, perhaps it is also time to consider the option of noise measurement in accordance with ITU-R 468. While well known amongst broadcast amd microphone manufacturer circles in Europe, it is less well known and appreciated across the Atlantic.
The claimed advantages of the 'psophometric' curve and quasi-peak detection (in comparison to the A-weighted rms detection standard) are a closer correlation with subjective judgment of noise impairment, and the greater sensitivity to impairment generated by clicks and spikes as can be found in computer-based audio equipment.
Anyone else have a similar view that this would be a useful extension to DIGICheck?
