Topic: Little Totalmix Mic Channel suggestions (and more)
Hi,
1/ Here is some little mods suggestion for preamp channel view in TM FX (UFX in my case) :
With a widescreen (or when we are a bit far from the screen), it is not easy to quickly see if "P48" is already engaged compared to "inst" on Mic channels. Also, we must "deploy" the mic track to see channel status.
A/ Add/change button colors :
- for "48V" button -> either red (prefered) or orange (like the front panel leds)
- for "Inst" button -> green (like the front panel leds)
B/ Add Channel Tool color information when a channel is not deployed (like EQ and D status)
- Tool color : black, red or green according to channel setting (respectively normal, P48 ON or Inst ON)
- background tool color : depend on polarity settings
normal polarity => bkg color = grey, tool color = black/red/green (see above)
reverse polarity => bkg color = black, tool color = grey/red/green (see above)
In this case, no need to deploy a channel to see its actual status.
2/ About MIDI Control Surface support :
A/ Add shortcuts to enable/disable MIDI (and/or OSC) Control Surface
B/ Add CC option for monitoring buttons (Dim, mono, Speaker B, Cue, etc)
OR
Add an option to choose MIDI channel for Notes (instead of only Ch.1) for those monitoring buttons
I use a MIDI controller from a master keyboard to control TMFX. It should works pretty well except that buttons (Dim, Recall, Speaker B, Mono) aren't recognized as CC :
I can get button to work but keyboard notes are also recognized and is an issue with a MIDI keyboard. The workaround I use is to use an unused MIDI channel (like ch.16) to prevent any interaction => but some (H/W or VSTi) instruments only work with MIDI ch.1.
CC could be deactivated when MC protocol is engage (as far as it would cause some issues with MC, I don't know)
As far as the user doesn't use a MC surface control, I don't see why CC would make any interference with other protocols (MC, HUI or others).
