Topic: Can I use my MADIFACE USB without TotalMix FX?

I am trying to do a simple multitrack one to one record and playback from my Midas Pro 1 through a DN9650 and Madiface USB into ProTools 10 on a PC laptop. All I want is my MADI in's and out's to line up one to one, two to two, and so on. TotalMix is driving me crazy because I can't figure out how to get it all mono and down each audio path. I don't want a stupid mixdown to "Control Room" I want 1 to go to one, and then be able to assign it easily in Pro Tool's I/O. Total mix also stereo pairs things, which I don't want, and when you change it to mono, 3 goes out 3+4, and 4 goes out 3+4 and so on. What's the logic in that? I am sort of figure it out, but I'd rather just bypass TotalMix if at all possible, because it just screws with all my audio path's.

That's even worse than RTFM, because a simple look in the MF USB Settings dialog would have revealed the option to completely 'Disable TotalMix'. Manual page 12.

Thank You very much! Sorry, I was looking in the totalmix help file, and I couldn't figure it out. Obviously now because that was the wrong place to look.

Re: Can I use my MADIFACE USB without TotalMix FX?

One more question. Am I only able to playback 32 channels over BNC? In the "Output Format" Section on the MADIFACE USB Settings, I can select: 64 (32/16) CH. I am assuming that's 32 out and 16 in simultaneously. For one, that only equals 48. Is there a way to use 40 channels out?

Re: Can I use my MADIFACE USB without TotalMix FX?

You can select 64 and 56 channel MADI formats. The numbers in brackets refer to the channel number at 96 and 192k, respectively. I'm sure that's covered in the manual... :-)
