Topic: Which fiber multi mode to single mode converter for MADI?

Hi all,

I want to connect my RME MADIface to a Studer Vista single mode MADI optical fibre i/o so I'm looking for a fibre media converter.
Can I use a (common fibre network) mm-sm converter with these specs?:

  • 100BASE

  • IEEE 802.3u

  • multimode: SC 1300nm, 62.5/125um

  • singlemode: SC 1300nm, 9/125um

or do I need this one?:

  • 1000BASE

  • IEEE 802.3z

  • multi mode: SC 1300nm, 62.5/125um

  • single mode: SC 1300nm, 9/125um

Or other specs?

Thanks!

All RME MADI equipment can be ordered with Single mode opticals instead of Multimode one on request (with some fee on top). If this is the old MADIface you could save some money by just ordering the box with Single mode ports - or even the whole system (having a replacement ExpressCard then). The MF XT could be ordered with 2 Multimode and one Single mode port, for example, making it universally usable. And so on...
