Topic: Connecting ADI-2 to Babyface using optical cables

I'm connecting my ADI-2 to my Babyface using optical cables, so that I can record additional audio channels using the ADI-2's A-D convertors. It works fine, but I wanted to check I have the "Output" setting correct on the ADI-2.

The Output setting has 3 possible values: ADAT, PRO and CON - which should I use?

The ADI-2 manual says the following:

* ADAT: The optical TOSLINK output operates in ADAT mode. Included support for Sample Split (S/MUX) enables sample rates up to 96 kHz.
* PRO: The output signal carries the Channel Status Professional. The physical output level at the RCA connector is raised, making the signal compatible to AES-3 and AES/EBU. The same signal is found at the optical output.
* CON: The output signal carries the Channel Status Consumer. The physical output level at the RCA connector is lowered. The same signal is found at the optical output.

In SPDIF/AES mode, identical signals are available at both the optical and the coaxial output.

This is ambiguous.

First, when it says "the same signal is found at the optical output", does it mean the same signal as the RCA connector, or the same signal regardless whether you choose ADAT, PRO and CON?

Second, which of these settings use S/PDIF?  From my limited understanding of digital interconnects, S/PDIF is more of a consumer standard, whereas AES-3 / AES/EBU is more of a professional standard. Does that mean that "CON" corresponds to S/PDIF?

It's confusing me that the three bullet points explaining ADAT, PRO and CON don't mention S/PDIF at all, and yet other parts of the manual talk about S/PDIF as an output option.
