Topic: ADI 2 - Connection to babyface and monitoring

I am thinking about getting an ADI-2 in order to get some more options to babyface (connecting via ADAT). I have searched the forum and read the manuals but cannot really find the answers i'm looking for.

1) Will I be able to connect the headphones to the adi-2 and monitor "everything" even when i'm using the inputs on the babyface (on the ADI-2 i will hookup some preamps)?

2) Will i need to use both Adat In and Out on both units?

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes, but...

2. Yes, but...

The ADI-2 has only two channels in and out, so connecting 'some' preamps plus your mentioning of ADAT all the time sounds like some misunderstanding.

Re: ADI 2 - Connection to babyface and monitoring

Oke. Let me clarify my plan a little.

The idea is to Connect ADI-2 to Babyface via ADAT in order to get two extra inputs in my setup  so i can record more than 2 microphones at the same time.  I have two external single channel preamps which i intend to connect to the ADI XLR Inputs. Then i also have the two XLR Inputs on the babyface with builtin pre-amps.

If i have understood the Product correct i need to Connect to babyface via the ADAT (out from ADI and in on Babyface) in order to achieve this.

Furthermore, as i understand there is a good headphone amplifier in ADI, and if i can use that as well to monitor it would be a plus.

Hope this was clarifying.

Yes to all. Please note that the optical connection is not called ADAT, but TOSLINK. That said you can use both SPDIF or ADAT format on this optical connection between BF and ADI, both will work.

Ahh...my mistake mixing up the terms.

Thank you for the reply. I will visit my local store and place a order.
