Topic: PCIe external adaptor

Hi

apologies if this has been asked many times before but I couldn't find the threads.

I have been using an RME HDSP AES-32 PCIe card in an old PC & wish to upgrade my system to an Apple environment & will have to get an external adaptor from PCIe to Thunderbolt or USB3. Is this wise? Can it be done successfully? Does it affect performance, latency etc? Is there a particular adaptor brand that is better than others?

Thanks

Re: PCIe external adaptor

I don't think there are USB 3 devices, but external Thunderbolt-PCIe enclosures work fine....

Re: PCIe external adaptor

Thank you for your reply Daniel.

Just to make sure that I buy the right thing as I'm a bit confused about the card sizes, will this http://www.sonnettech.com/product/echoexpressse2.html be suitable for my HDSPe AES-32?

Re: PCIe external adaptor

I have 3 HDSPe PCIe cards in a Sonnet box. They're working beautifully.
