Topic: Signal showing on "Phones 1" channel, not actually making sound

My DAW's master out is 3/4. If I assign "Phones 1" to 3/4, I see signal in Phones 1, but nothing comes out of the headphone jack on the front of my MADIFace. This is where the sound should be coming out of, correct?

Also, shouldn't the TotalMix software assign 3/4 to Phones 1, not assign Phones 1 to 3/4? It seems like everything in TotalMix is backwards!

I see "PH" in the software playback section as well... I was wondering what the purpose of this is? It's not a channel you can enable in any DAW.

Re: Signal showing on "Phones 1" channel, not actually making sound

Also, if anyone knows of any tutorial videos for using TotalMix please let me know. I've found some outdated ones by random people on youtube but I'm hoping there are official ones by RME somewhere? This is hands-down the worst-designed software I've used--and I'm using Cubase!

Another random note, if my brand new MADIFace's power cord moves a centimeter, the unit turns off. I have to spin the power plug to get it in just the right position and try to keep it exactly there for it to stay on. Does anyone else have this problem?

The MADIface XT comes with a power supply that has a lockable connector, which doesn't wiggle at all. Sounds like you did not get that one. Or the unit's power socket is broken.

The Phones output is labelled 'Phones' in both WDM and ASIO. Using Phones for playback will show a signal in the second row of TM FX on the channels Phones. Routing these to the Phones output in the third row will show the signal there (level meters), and it will be available at the phones output on the front.

Basically using TotalMix FX is not necessary at all. You assign all I/Os in the DAW (Cubase), and they will work. TM FX is an additional monitoring mixer that you don't need to use.

I'm embarrassed to say I never realized my power plug was not going in all the way because of the "locking ring" on the connecter which needs to be in the right position to enter. For any idiots like me out there, put the plug in and twist--locks great! Thank you so much RME, I feel really dumb.

I had the plug halfway in.... Going to sit in the corner now.
