I live in Sweden so who should I contact about a new PSU for my ADI-8DS? It died some years ago and I miss it a bit. The PSU did fry a AK5393VS but that could of course be replaced also. My main need now is more outputs anyway.
If a PSU fails and puts out too high voltage, it is quite unlikely that only one AK5393 is damaged. Most probably other components, maybe even the FPGA, are defective now. Did you do a check with a different power supply?
No not yet. But you're right of course and I have also considered this and plan to verify operation before replacing the PSU.
What are the current needs for +5,-15 and +15V?
5V 1 A and 0.5 A for +-15V will get you started for checking.
Got my new lab PSU today and hooked it up to the ADI-8DS. All LEDs turn on, a good start, then they just stay on, not a good sign, and then one of the 4580 OPAmps in output 1/2 starts to get troubling hot. About 1.8A of 5V was used and 250mA +15V and 360mA -15V. The fried AD converter on ch 3/4 is still present and should perhaps first be removed and then re-verify everything.
But I guess I should start looking for a used one on eBay. Looks like an expensive repair.
