Topic: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

Hello guys,
Can not get 'index' slot 3 (or 4) to communicate with my Mackie pro controllers (each as separate Mackie in/out MIDI devices).
Tried all the permutations.. 1 & 2 work perfectly with all three controllers.
Using latest Mackie, RME firmware / windows USB drivers..
Any help greatly appreciated...
Regards to all
Wal.

Make sure that remote 3 is extender to 1 (like remote 2), not to 2.

Re: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

Yes I have done this Matthias,
Doesn't work.. In fact none of my controllers will work (including the master unit on it's own) in index 3 with any settings?

Re: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

In that case we need the exact details of your setup to further analyze the error:

- Windows or Mac
- Version of TotalMix FX (current one is 1.35 which is included in the current drivers)
- the used MIDI ports and/or interfaces (USB, DIN...)
- the RME interface (UFX I guess)
- Ideal would be also to get your workspace where you configured all the settings for 3 remote usage (just send to my email address)

One question: does controller 3 have MIDI LEDs, and do they indicate incoming messages?

Did you receive my forum mail Matthias?

Re: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

Yes, and I replied. Might be hanging in your spam folder.

But just disregard that mail as it was (unfortunately) not fully correct.

The error that you describe typically happens when the function 'Submix linked to MIDI Controller' (TotalMix FX menu, Options) is not activated for 1, 2 AND 3. Please make sure you have a checkmark set for all three controllers.

Re: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

Okay,
As I said, forget about my extenders!
Regardless of the 'submix linked to midi controller' settings, I cannot insert my MCU pro controller into index slot 3 on it's own and expect it to fully work? Are slots 1,2 and 3,4 multiplexed in some way? Otherwise it should work..

Re: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

If you set the MCU as unit 3, disabling the others in the MIDI settings dialog, also no extender stuff checked anywhere, and activating Submix linked to controller 3, then it should indeed work.

I expect you are using a current version of TM FX, like at least 1.35?

I can't rule out that there is something wrong in TM FX, but it works for us at this time.

You might want to send me a workspace where this problem is saved, so we can check with your exact configuration.

USB v3.1? Is that USB 3.1? Did you test controllers 1 and 2 on the same port?

Re: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

I think 'USB 3.1' is simply a label for the midi drivers

Full list of options are:
MCU Pro USB 3.1
MIDIIN2(MCU Pro USB 3.1)
MIDIIN3(MCU Pro USB 3.1)
MIDIIN4(MCU Pro USB 3.1)

The 1st option is the MCU Pro controller. The bracketed choices refer to the din I/O on the back of the MCU Pro controller which (can) connect to the extenders.
I have tested all of these I/Os in TotalMix and all work perfectly in index slots 1 & 2 but none work in index 3 & 4..

Re: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

update;
The problem seems to be with my UFX. Just tried my Babyface Pro and Controller / extenders all work perfectly...

Re: Mackie control pro + 2 x extenders Problem

Thanks for sending the workspace, that one quickly revealed the problem cause. Please go into Channel Layout and unhide Remote Control 3 and 4 for all channels.
