Topic: UFX+ Analog input value

I have just changed my Fireface UC for an UFX +.

I have a question about the values of the analog input.

In 44,1khz I have 105 and 192khz I have 68.

We see the modulation on the screen and in the total mix. The level is blinking.

that's the same in USB & Thunderbolt.

SN : 23770487

Last firmware and driver on board.

Is it normal?

Re: UFX+ Analog input value

The screen from the UFX+ in 192khz

Thanks.

It is normal and explained in the manual...

Re: UFX+ Analog input value

Ok, that's the chapter 39.7 ?

in total mix i have -105 at 44,1khz , -95 at 96khz and -68 at 192Khz.

Re: UFX+ Analog input value

when i turn on the RMS meter i have

44,1khz -114
96khz-105
192Khz -78,5

on the analog inputs.

here the pic in 192khz

And i have read the chapter about the noise level.

Thanks

Perfectly normal then.

Re: UFX+ Analog input value

I think what you're seeing may be the ADC noise shaping, they just move the noise above audibility:

"For applications where a full Nyquist bandwidth is not needed, alternate ADC architectures can be implemented. Band-pass continuous-time sigma-delta (CTΣΔ or CTSD) ADCs use a noise shaping function that essentially “pushes” or filters the in-band quantization noise out of the frequency band of interest (Fig. 3). This causes the noise transfer function to have a non-flat shape that is notched lower over a narrow band of interest, smaller than the Nyquist bandwidth. In this band, the CTSD ADC operates to its maximum performance where the SNRFS is the highest (Fig. 4)."

Re: UFX+ Analog input value

I understand ! See the screen blinking made doubt at the beginning.

thanks again for your help.

Re: UFX+ Analog input value

And it's important to note, -80dB at 81kHz is superior to the best analog tape recorders that barely hit that noise figure even in the audible band.

Anybody here remember tape hiss?

Re: UFX+ Analog input value

Hi hugo.donuts. Can you please tell me how you posted a pic onto the forum??
I can send donuts??
