Topic: Babyface Samplerate Stuck

Hi,

I got this error with a babyface interface. (Serial 23152445)
It will not change samplerate and I can not change it the settings window.
Sound wise it plays fine (no crackles,noises) only the sound is pitched up some semitones.

Because I have 3 babyface interfaces, I switched one from a another DAW and the error is gone.
Could this be the hardware at fault ?
Anyway to "hardware" reset this unit ?
I did a down and upgrade for the firmware to no avial.
Anything else I can try ?

What OS ?
What RME driver version ?
Can you pls post a screenshot of the RME driver settings dialog.

If the sample rate can not be changed its much likely, that you started already your DAW.
Then the sample rate is locked to what the project in your DAW defaults to.

So you need in this case change the sample rate in the DAW, then the samplerate will be updated automatically in the RME driver and thus the RME driver settings dialog.

Windows 10 running Nuendo7 with latest diver 1.099 & 223 firmware.
Tried that already -> samplerate change in DAW -> babyface does not react.
Anyway thx for the suggestion.
I can not send you a screenshot , I'm not at the DAW/studio with this configuration. (HDSP9652 here)

Babyface reacts to sampelrate changes now in Nuendo after a powercycle to cc compliant & back.
But it is still playing @ the wrong frequency.
When changing the rate in Nuendo to 88.2K, I think it plays @ double the speed.

Another strange thing is the reaction to the  pitch slider in the USB settings window.
When moved it tries to change the rate (somekind of bend) but then goes back to the wrong 'steady' one.

Anyone got a clue ?

Set the number of WDM devices to 0, then try again. If not work try with external power supply. If still not work it seems to be defective.

I've put the WDM devices to zero and boom problem gone !

Whats the reaspn for this ? Impact from Windows Sound system ?

With Windows 7 I cant remember, that my WDM devices hurt / cause such issues.

Therefore I am interested what dependency is there.
Is this related to Win10 or to the BBFP or driver ?

What's even more strange.....
This BBF has been connected & working fine on OSX for years.
Could it be that OSX did this ? (don't know what OSX version)

Sometimes Windows does not release the WDM device after use, for example after playing the start sound. That was a strange behavior on some systems seen many years ago.

Or you had something running in the background that uses WDM. Due to its multiclient capability ASIO is not allowed to change the sample rate when a WDM record/playback is already started, as that would ruin the WDM recording/playback.

Ah ok, thanks. Therefore the general recommendation to deactivate Windows sound ?

Got this BF back to work on windows 10.
Then I connected it back to a Macbook Pro, it played well for a while until a reboot of the MAC.
Tada ......the problem is back -> stuck samplerate.
And the trick with the WDM devices put to zero does not work anymore.

Any advice here ?

As you have three units and only one makes this problem it seems to be defective. Contact your local dealer or distributor for check/repair.
