Topic: Is there any significant (>1ms) MIDI latency on FF800?

Hello all,

Does any one know if there is any significant (>1ms) MIDI latency on FF800? What I mean is the latency between FF800 receives signal from MIDI IN and the moment my DAW (Logic Pro X) catches the MIDI in a MIDI recording session. I could not find this information on the specs sheet.

I'm asking because it will be used in a MIDI related research project. We are not concerned about the audio latency which controlled by the audio buffer size.

Thank you for your help.

I don't know if there is a way to measure this on OS X, but for Windows you usually get well below 1 ms MIDI latency. There are deviations, though, that on Windows can depend on the MIDI driver model being used and especially on background load. Since I don't know how MIDI is specifically implemented in OS X you may have to run some tests yourself.

This software for measuring MIDI latency and jitter is available for both Windows and OS X:

It is calculating the "average" round-trip latency, which makes sense, because MIDI latency usually is not a constant value.

Here is the corresponding Gearslutz thread where the software and MIDI latency/jitter in general have been discussed:
