Topic: Thunderbolt solution for Mac Pro early?

Hello Guys I already decided for a Sonnet Allegro Pro PCI-E to USB3.0 to using my UFX+ on my Mac Pro 3,1 2008.

But looking arround I've found this kind of solution to run thunderbolt through PCIe.

Do you guys know if RME UFX+ will work on this system??

First installing this guy!

Then run through to this

and then to this

Before someone say, I know it's not a cheap solution but, at least, would it work?

You cannot use the devices the wrong way round. They simply won't work.

But if I use in the right way? or they won't work anyway round at all?

Re: Thunderbolt solution for Mac Pro early?

we have been using ethernet extenders for mouse+keyboard+screen and it's not 100% reliable solution,
also it matters what CAT type cables you use, especially important if you use already-laid infrastructure built into walls and extending that further,
what distance you need to work at? we are moving away from ethernet extenders to externally-powered 10m long usb 3.0 hubs and those can even handle usb-powered HDDs

Re: Thunderbolt solution for Mac Pro early?

After Buying a Sonnet Alegro Pro USB3,0 PCIe and try it on my octo 2.8ghz xeon Mac Pro 2008, and get almost the same results that my vostro i7 2,7 quadcore, I decided to sell my Mac Pro and stay with Vostro.
I GOT LOTS OF CLICKS with UFX+ running on SOnnet Allegro Pro USB 3.0. My test Virtual instrument was Arturia Buchla Easel with 4 voices open, at 44.1khz and 64 buffer size. Just the instrument without any DAW! Clicks and pops all arround.

One thing that I have to mention is that with the same aproach, just with apple core audio (without UFX+) I didn't got so much click.

I'm looking for a Mac Pro or Imac (not the pro $$) to use thunderbolt and forget about USB 3.0, I need CPU power, any advices ?

Is Imac good go for work with multiple channel and plenty heavy virtual component modeled synths or should I buy another MacPro but this moderns with Thunderbolt?
