can anyone clarify....

I have the RME UCX and I am using a BOB ( break out box ) for my connections... the BOB has 12 female XLR connectors... I want to remove four of them and change them to XLR combo jacks to have the option of 1/4 inch plug in-puts.... the combo jacks I purchased are Neutrik XLR / 1/4inch stereo combo jacks... the question is,  if I solder together  ( on the back of the combo jack) the 3  XLR pins to the respective 3  ( 1/4 inch pins )  ( pin 1 to sleeve, pin 2 to tip and pin 3 to ring ),  then will this work correctly,  whether I plug in an XLR plug or 1/4 inch plug?    ( these 4 connections I am refering too,  will be interfaced to the 4 line inputs on the back of the UCX,   which are 1/4 inch balanced line inputs...)
