Topic: Fireface 800 Midi Problem & Solution

My setup: Mac OSX with High Siera
with the Fireface 800 connected via a Firewire 800 cable and the Thunderbold adapter.

For a while i thought the Midi just broke, the Midi Unit of the Fireface wasn't found anymore in OSX or any DAW.
But then i read something on Gearslutz about deleting the installed RME Midi Driver (Library/Audio/Midi Drivers) and reinstalling the newest driver (335).

This worked, Midi works again.
But later after switching the Fireface off for a while it won't work anymore. The Fireface again isn't found in the Midi Units of OSX.

As i don't want to reinstall the driver every time i want to use Midi.
Is there something else i can do? Is there something i have forgot to do?
Thank you for help!

Re: Fireface 800 Midi Problem & Solution

Whats your FF800 firmware version ?
Driver version 335 requires Firmware 2.77 on the FF800.

No idea, this was the only thing which came into my mind.

Re: Fireface 800 Midi Problem & Solution

I think i got a workaround.
After reinstalling the old driver 3.06 i saw that there isn't any problem there with Midi, it still works after switching the unit off and on.

In the end i installed the new driver 3.35 and only replaced the Midi Driver (Library/Audio/Midi Drivers) with the old one of 3.06.
This seems to work perfect, till now.

Yes, this works!

But i still would like to know from RME why this is...
