Topic: FF 400 strange digital ticks

Mystic digital high-pitched ticks appear in my recordings.

They are very frequent when my FF400 is in bus-mode rather than external.

What is wrong with my FF400? Or is it some kind of electrical interference from other electronic units in my studio? Cables crossing on the floor?
I'm using a 5 meter FireWire 400 extension cable between my FF400 and my mac. With one of those extension adapters that gives the signa an extra push. Can it be that? I've had it for years though and never had problems until recently.

Please help if you can!

Hello,

have you tried other software? Higher buffer size? Direct connection to the computer? Also test if the "Reduce bandwidth" option does anything.

Re: FF 400 strange digital ticks

Hi! Thanks for the reply! I've had some time without any problems now. But today it came back again. I am always working in:
2048 Buffer Size, the highest DP can do. I own no other software. Limit Bandwidth is always set to Analog.

It is to complicated to move the FF400 closer to the mac. The mac is inside a closet a bit far away from the interface and the mixing spot.

Could it be the FW extension cable that is getting tired?
