Topic: Totalmix routing, sound to low to outboard compressor

have problem with the loudness going through and out my totalmix.
i have logic and use the i/o plugin on a snare channel. have rme ff400. the compressor gets sound, but to low.
in logic the snare channel shows loudness - 10dbVU. on my compressor it shows -20dbVU. not much signal arrives at the compressor ...

i have rme ff400 output 3 set to +4dB.

i can encrease the output volume on my logic i/o plugin maximum +12 dB and than more signal gets to the compressor but by than the totalmix output shows red/digital clipping. and even than my compressor, when set to 20:1, max. attack show just about 5dB GR on a snare!

do you have your hardware outputs within totalmix always at "0"?

i got no clue what i am doing wrong here ... any help welcome!

Re: Totalmix routing, sound to low to outboard compressor

And what is the ff400 input sensitivity set to? What is the input sensitivity of the compressor? Seems like you do not have proper gain staging on the analog side of this.
