Topic: Question regarding stand-by function

Hi,

I have just purchased a RME ADI-2 Pro dac. First of all, I am very pleased with it:-).

1. Can I switch in/out cables without risk, while the dac is in stand-by mode, or will I have to turn it completely off?

2. The dac runs quite hot (nut 'burning' hot, but maybe 35-40 degrees on the chassis). Is this normal?

Thanks a lot!

Best regards
Peter

Re: Question regarding stand-by function

to 1+2: no issues. Quite hot case means heat dissipation is well, this has been asked several times on the forum and RME response is not to worry about it.

Re: Question regarding stand-by function

Hi Ramses,

Thanks a lot for replying! Sorry, I probably should have made a search first….

Just to make sure I got it right about the stand by function as well: I CAN switch cables when the dac is in stand-by mode without running the risk of short-circuiting anything? (I really would like to avoid that!)

Thanks a lot!

Best regards
Peter

Re: Question regarding stand-by function

The only thing which I remember is with Firewire 400 plugs. There is really a recommendation because of the mechanic of the plug, that you can destroy electronics.

If you feel more save, turn it off.
