Topic: Static sound out of monitor when computer is shutdown

Hello,

When my computer is shutdown and the monitors are connected to FF400 there is a loud static sound coming out of them. This goes away when my computer is turned on, also this only happens with the FF400 not my Babyface Pro if the monitors are connected to it.

I'm powering the FF400 with its power supply and have it connected firewire to the computer as well as optical with the Babyface Pro

Any ideas to help please?

Shutdown the computer so static noise occurs. Unplug FireWire. Result?

If this is a ground loop then the hum&noise should be low volume If loud then your mointors do not match the levels of the FF's outputs. Which dB value is your master fader typically set for normal listening volume?
