Is it possible to make a Mackie Control (MC) hardware controller like Behringer X-Touch control an RME-interface directly without having to run Total Mix on a computer?

I mean: the midi ports are there on the interface but if I close Total Mix on the computer control is lost.

Also: is there any way to control EQ via X-Touch even with Total Mix running?
Plugin or EQ buttons seems to have different meanings than intended when X-Touch is connected to Total Mix.
