Topic: Total mix beginner

A total beginner to RME, using a firewire Fireface and Total mix.

No problem recording tracks from the synth keyboard via midi.

No problem recording voice over these tracks.

Want to add a track played on the synth, but as a recording not as midi. The track records, but I hear only the playback from the existing tracks, without the addition of the sound I am actually recording.

What have I forgotten to tell TotalMix?

Re: Total mix beginner

I'm afraid the problem is not quite clear, at least to me.... Please explain.

Re: Total mix beginner

I think I assume I know what he means.
He has plugged his keyboard to analog inputs.
He is able to record the keyboard, but can't hear his playing on either monitors or phones.

The solution is to simply add the inputs (where your keyboard is cpnnected to) to your monitor or phones submix.

In TM FX
- check that submix mode is enabled
- in the bottom row (HW outputs) select your output for ie monitors
- raise the fader of HW inputs (top row) to which the keyboard is connected to

Best is to store this routing in a snapshot if you need it more often.
