Topic: HDSPe MADI and M-32 AD DA

Hi all the members from France !

I'm an "old" user of RME products, actually a fireface 2.
I'm planning to record 24 channels from a console, via a PC interface, working on cubase.
I look to HDSPe and 2 units of M-32 (one DA and one AD), via MADI : is it a good choice ?
Any other suggestions ?

Thanks, best regards

Re: HDSPe MADI and M-32 AD DA

Hi Pierre,

sure, but M32 Pro AD and DA are the newer products. 1 RU, internal blower (noise is load dependent and has been optimized by Firmware patch), dual power supply, MADI and AVB are supported.

I recommend you to take the HDSPE MADI FX because of the special driver design that only uses system resources for active audio channels in bundles of 8 ports.

See my review here and the PDF therein: http://www.tonstudio-forum.de/blog/inde … Pro-FS-BE/

Theoretically you could also base on AVB but then you would also require AVB capable switches.

I personally think that you have still advantages to use MADI as it is a dedicated cabling infrastructure for audio and the MADI recording interfaces bring some additional i/o ports that could be useful.

The current rme avb and Dante recording interfaces are much to the point without AES,  adat etc.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply !

I will use the HDSPe FX, this card as 2 MADI optical connectors and i need them (1 for each digital 32 conversion)
Best regards

You can even get a 3rd optical MADI bus if you purchase the optional HDSPe Opto-X card:
