Topic: Negative input voltage

Hello, what happens if connecting the back input of a Fireface 800 to a jack carrying a signal that can take negative values?
I've connected a piezo accelerometer which outputs +/- 2.4 V and the recorded signal seems OK, however I'm afraid it could be severely distorted in ways I don't fully grasp

Re: Negative input voltage

also, what do the level meters in TotalMix read if a +/- signal is applied? Are those peak values or peak-to-peak values in dBFS?

Re: Negative input voltage

Please refer to my email reply. There is no distortion, every analog Audio Signal contains + and -. The digital representation in Totalmix does Show that, this works differently…
