Topic: Firewire or Power adapter?

I have a Fireface400...still...and it works great.
As of late (a few years), I've been using the fw cable to power the unit instead of the adapter.
Any pros or cons to this?

Pro: less cables, interface turning off together with the computer
Contra: No standalone use possible
