Is it possible to connect Avalon U5 preamp (balanced output) to BabyFace in unbalanced inputs 3 and 4?

In short: YES!

If the Avalon has decent design, there shouldn't be any problem. The worst that can happen, is a bit of hum, in which case you need a different cable.
