Topic: Failed to open ADAT (15 + 16) (RME UFX II)!
Can anyone tell me why I get this message?
"Failed to open ADAT (15 + 16) (RME UFX II)!"
It makes audio recording disabled.
And how do I fix it?
Thanks

More details, please. When and where exactly does this occur?

It occurs after I turn my laptop on. Usually I turn my laptop on then turn on the Fireface UFX II. Most times it all goes well. Sometimes I get this message, as described.
It seems that things revert to Windows audio for some reason. I also get a message saying that 'recording devices have been disabled'.
When using the Fireface UFX II I always select 'remove devices' in Windows, then turn the Fireface off. When I turn my laptop on, I wait till the laptop boots and then I turn the Fireface on.
I get the message sometimes when I turn it on.
I guess I should completely disable Windows audio???

Where and why do you do this? And how many WDM devices are enabled in the Settings dialog?
I select "show hidden icons" on the Windows desktop to show what is plugged in via USB and I select to safely remove Fireface UFX when I am finished a session. I just thought it was a good way of turning off the connection between the Fireface and Windows before shutting my laptop down.
Is it OK just to turn the Fireface off at its power switch?
I have 14 WDM devices enabled. But I will not be using any ADAT until a few weeks.

I have 14 WDM devices enabled. But I will not be using any ADAT until a few weeks: Set to what you need not more. If you use asio for your daw you can set it to 0 if you don't use system sounds or media player(s) or 1 if you also need system sounds.
RME USB units do not require any such Safely Remove procedure, nor does it bring any advantage when using them. Your issue might be too many WDM devices active. Open Sound Control panel, then connect the UFX II, then observe how long it takes until they are all shown. Fresh OS usually one second. Old OS can take minutes.
You won't have that problem with ASIO.
Thank you. How do I know if ASIO is in effect? Or how do I make sure ASIO is on my computer working with the Fireface?

From the program you use. As a rule pro audio apps support asio.
So if you need more help, make sure you mention what programs you use with the fireface, all of them.
Ok thank you. I use Presonus Studio One 5.
Then it shouldn't be complicated to select the RME ASIO driver in the program's settings.
I believe I already have that selected.
No problem.
Thanks for your help.
