Topic: Fireface UC connected to two computers

Hey RME community,

I own a Fireface UC, two speakers connected to it and two computers, a Windows PC and a Mac.
I'm planning on using the Mac as a recording machine while using the PC solely as an entertainment station, so I'd like to connect both to the speakers through the Fireface.
Is it possible to connect the Mac via USB for recording purposes and connect it to the PC via SPDIF optical just for playback purposes? The computers will not be running at the same time.

Or would a KVM switch for USB be the better alternative? (Could there be latency issues with such a device?)

Of course you can connect the PC via optical SPDIF and route the SPDIF input in TotalMix FX to e.g. Speaker and/or Phones.
