Topic: HDSP AES 32 Flash Problems

Hello,

I've got an RME HDSP AES 32 card that works fine and I'm attempting to flash it back to firmware version 202 for use in a Linux machine.  Currently, it will not work in a Linux environment.  I got the suggestion from the RME legacy drivers page here:

https://archiv.rme-audio.de/en/download … hive.php#2

Under the HDSP MADI / HDSP AES-32 section, there are 3 files and one is suggested for Linux compatibility.  Unfortunately, I can't get the drivers to install on Windows 7 and resorted to this driver that I found on the rme-usa.com site.

This file works:

WDM streaming driver, all HDSP and HDSPe cards/systems 2020-12-09 driver_hdsp_win_436.zip

After confirming that the card works ok in Windows 7, I checked my hardware revision ( 235) and tried to roll back the firmware.  Unfortunately, the Flash tool v2.2 HW Rev 202 program wouldn't load and I had to install the card into a Windows XP SP II machine.  I got it working with an old 2.40 driver that I found on the Wayback Machine and hoped tried the Rev 202 flash tool again.  This time, I got the flash tool working, but I couldn't get past the erasing part.

Scouring the RME fourms led me to this post:

Re: MADI Word Clock Output not working properly on Linux?
And thanks for the firmware!

Side note: firmware 202 doesn't work with the Windows driver v 2.4 that also is on the archive page.

Version 202 works great with my Linux install though.  I wasn't able to update the Alsa-drivers, which would have been the alternative: the system I'm doing this on is a production system.

I did try a newer Alsa version on a different computer.  Firmware 203 works with Alsa 1.0.14; I haven't tried any other firmware/Alsa combinations though.  Still, HDSPe MADI might work with newer Linux drivers.

My conjecture is that the w2madi_22.zip Windows 2000/XP PnP Hammerfall DSP MADI, Version 2.20 3/06/2004 will allow me to roll back the firmware.  Is there any way I can get those drivers?   Unfortunately, the Wayback Machine didn't archive the file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, it still won't flash.  Is there any thing else I should try?  Does anyone have suggestions?

Re: HDSP AES 32 Flash Problems

If the provided FUT opens but fails flashing using the matching driver then the error can also be within the card. It would need to be checked in our service department. Not sure it's worth the costs and effort, though.
