Topic: Mac OS Flash Update Tool crashes on Snow Leopard (10.6.8)

Hi,

Could anyone confirm if the current version of Mac OS Flash Update Tool (Released on 2020-12-15, available from https://rme-audio.de/downloads/fut_madiface_mac.zip), can be used on Snow Leopard? (10.6.8)

Readme says "USB Flash Update Tool for Mac OS X Intel 10.6 and up" but it crashes as soon as I try to open it.

I am trying to flash Digiface USB.

Thank you.

Hi Matthias,

This does not work either.

Crash report says;
Dyld Error message : Library not loaded : /user/lib/libc++.1.dylib
Reason : image not found.

Which driver do you use on that computer?

It is v2.22.

The last version available for Snow Leopard, downloaded from https://rme-audio.de/downloads/driver_usb_mac_222.zip

Ok, we try to check that, but it will need a few days due to hoildays.

You could also try this one, which is not the latest one but v13 and was compiled already two years ago:

Thank you Matthias.

We will be able to check this in a few days as well.

It is great to know that RME still cares about old systems like Snow Leopard.

We checked and unfortunately I have to state that we are no longer able to make FUTs that work under 10.6 with reasonable effort. The compiler used since years has 10.7 as minimum, so the 10.6 in the readme was not correct.

A simple workaround is to perform the firmware update on other computers, Windows or Mac, that meet the current requirements.

Re: Mac OS Flash Update Tool crashes on Snow Leopard (10.6.8)

Thanks for confirming it.

I did try to flash it with Mojave OS, and the Flash Tool did see the card, but Flashing button was not clickable. I did try to install the latest USB driver several times, but it did not work.

Considering the newest firmware for Digiface USB does not contain any critical features, I will continue to use it as it is.
