Topic: New monitor blew up my Fireface?

Hi there,

Can anyone help with the following?

I was very happily running my old Fireface 400 on my new Macbook Pro (2018 model, High Sierra). I was daisy chaining:

- Firewire 800 -> Firewire 400
- Firewire 400 -> Thunderbolt 2
- Thunderbolt 2 -> Thunderbolt 3

Disaster appears to have struck after plugging in a new monitor. Now my Mac completely ignores the Fireface.

I'd thought perhaps there was some software conflict with the speakers in the new monitor but I've ruled that out by completely wiping my Mac and starting from scratch.

But now I can't figure out which of the five pieces of hardware (three cables, one fireface, one macbook) is at fault.

Any thoughts?

Thank you!

Do these monitors connect via an audio cable?

Or do they connect over USB?

Your Fireface could have just died coincidentally when connecting the monitors. We can't tell that from a distance.

Have you tried a reset on the FF400?

Have you tried another PSU for the FF400?
